““Nights on Broadway” is a song by the legendary trio Bee Gees (Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb).
It appears on their album Main Course, which marked a major stylistic shift for the band—moving more into funk, R&B and early disco-influenced territory.
The song was co-written by the three Gibb brothers and produced by Arif Mardin.
One of the key moments in the track is Barry Gibb’s falsetto—an element that would come to define much of the Bee Gees’ sound in the years following.
With its smooth groove, memorable hook and sophisticated production, “Nights on Broadway” stands out as a bridge between the Bee Gees’ earlier pop-rock style and their late-70s disco dominance.
Bee Gees – Nights on Broadway (1975)
Recording for “Nights on Broadway” took place on January 20 and January 30, 1975 at Criteria Studios in Miami.
Producer Arif Mardin challenged the group by saying: “Can any of you scream?” This led Barry to raise his voice into a falsetto during the chorus — marking a turning point in the band’s vocal style.
The song peaked at No. 7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The single version had some edits for radio (e.g., fade‐out at around 2:52) while the album version lasted about 4:32.
“Nights on Broadway” followed their previous single “Jive Talkin’” which had hit No. 1 — so this track had the challenge of following a massive comeback hit.
